VanVelzen
Roel van Velzen (stagename VanVelzen) is a Dutch singer / songwriter He was born on March 20, 1978 in Delft, the Netherlands. On stage he plays keyboards, or the electric guitar.
VanVelzen released his debut single, 'Baby Get Higher', in 2006. It became an airplay hit in the Netherlands and peaked at #17 in the Dutch Top 40. In January 2007, his second single, 'Burn', was released. It did better than 'Baby Get Higher' in the charts, peaking at #7 in the Dutch Top 40 and #6 in the Dutch mega top 50.
His debut album 'Unwind' went straight to #1 in the Dutch Album Top 100 in its first week of release in March 2007, the album went Gold and Platinum, and VanVelzen received several awards, i.e. the Radio 3FM awards for best Live-Act.
When Summer Ends, written by VanVelzen and John Ewbank for a movie soundtrack, became one of the biggest Dutch hits of 2008.
In 2009, VanVelzen release a double album featuring 3 big hits, including 'On My Way' and 'Love Song'. Meanwhile the songs also made it in neighbouring countries Germany and Belgium.
Recently, VanVelzen collaborated with Dutch DJ Armin Van Buuren to release 'Broken Tonight' on 26 October 2009, it became an airplay hit in several countries, for example in the U.S., it peaked at #20 in the Hot Dance Airplay Chart. Armin and VanVelzen performed together at Dance Valley (the Netherlands) and in Malta, Vancouver, Dubai and Beirut.
VanVelzen performed at the Holland Heineken House located at the Richmond O-Zone for the Vancouver, 2010 Winter Olympics.
