Chrisette Michele Payne (born December 23, 1982), known professionally as Chrisette Michele, is a Grammy-nominated American R&B singer on the Def Jam Recordings record label. God and music were clearly instrumental in her upbringing: her father, who also played the organ, was a deacon, and her mother was the church's choir director. Her album debut, «I Am», followed in summer 2007. In mid-2008, Michele began recording for her second album, «Epiphany». Michele released her third studio album, «Let Freedom Reign», in 2010. She wrote all the songs herself.
